What if every job sold were a job fulfilled by someone with a proven record for exactly that skill?

Demand and performance on one side. Verified, rated people on the other. One loop.

A working conversation, Fri Nov 6, 2026, Park City, Utah.

The picture

Marion has spent eighteen years mastering demand and results.

TimeBlok is building fulfillment: finding, verifying and rating the people who do the work.

Spa Tender, a Park City field-service business, is where the second half has already been lived.

Joel McKay Smith

Four decades connecting people and building systems for rural and underserved communities.

"We are six people who have each spent years building things that put people to work and keep communities standing. Together we can open a fair, reliable path to skilled work, and to the homes and roofs that work protects, one community at a time, starting in Utah."

"Infrastructure that passes through a community creates a toll road. Infrastructure that is embedded in a community creates an economy."

Where the paths cross

In 2008 Joel helped launch PlusOne's first front end, and then its portal. Accelerant's first office sat in Marion's Draper office.

The trust is long and personal. What has never existed is a shared project.

Performance and accountability
Skill-by-skill ratings
A portal tying many parties to one goal
A marketplace tying employers, workers and payments to one job
Sells home-improvement jobs nationwide, then finds labor
Short-window jobs filled by verified people
Wants people who show up, produce and fit
Fit scoring, badges, controlled cancellations
Hundreds of workers once run through forms at Spa Tender
The platform that grew out of that

What if

a

What if a roofing or siding job could be posted once and filled by the best-fit crew in an afternoon?

Would have to be true: Roofing and siding exist as skills and the people who do that work are on the platform.

b

What if every worker carried a portable record that raised their pay as it grew?

Would have to be true: Raters are on site and ratings tie to outcomes that matter: showing up, finishing, no rework.

c

What if a closed sale could create a TimeBlok job the moment it closes?

Would have to be true: A simple handoff, even a form at first, proves value before any integration.

d

What if Marion's instinct for pricing and customer pain shaped TimeBlok's go-to-market?

Would have to be true: A light structure for his role.

e

What if the same loop worked for every home-services operator he knows?

Would have to be true: The first pilot produces a number worth repeating.

f

What if the work that gets done also rebuilds the places that need it?

Would have to be true: Local people earn first, starting with communities in Utah.

g

What if PlusOne's trained agents became the human front door for TimeBlok?

Would have to be true: The pilot shows where human support is the bottleneck.

h

What if Spa Tender is the demo that sells itself?

Would have to be true: A few clean numbers shared in Patrick's own words.

What would have to be true

Enough of the right workers
Launched Oct 30 in three Utah counties. Recruit a handful of roofing and siding workers or crews.
The right skills named
Add roofing and siding tags first.
Trust and safety
Agree who carries insurance and licensing for pilot jobs.
Crews, not only individuals
Test one small crew and one individual.
A reason to try it
Set the bar at his current no-show rate and cost of a failed job.
Reach beyond Utah
Prove it in Utah, then follow his footprint.

06 ยท The next step

One pilot, one owner, one date. What if we looked at results in two weeks?
